Cheating and anti-facing systems have been a hot topic in the field of games, especially such competitive PVP games as the Anti-Terrorism Elite and the Dauntless Compact. The Dauntless Compact is now in considerable controversy over a controversial anti-false post by its developer Riot.

Last Tuesday, Dauntless Concorders reported that the updating of Riot ‘ s Vanguard anti-fraud system would render the DMA solids unworkable. DMA solids were originally embedded development, web data acceleration, system hardware simulations, but in the area of game security in recent years, they have been widely used in the core disguise defenses that hang outside the game hardware.
DMA solids are reportedly not working even if the Dauntless Pact is not operational or Vanguard has been removed from the system. The only way to restore functionality is to reload the system or replace other operating systems.
Such a powerful outcry would have been welcomed by the Dauntless Compact community if the official “Congratulations on the $6,000 New Town Paper” had not been published on social platforms. The tweet was accompanied by a photograph of dozens of DMA solids, so many believed that Riot’s anti-fouling system would make the player’s computer of the Dauntless Compact a “brick”.

Misunderstanding, which spread as rapidly as wildfires, provoked a wave in the player community, forcing Riot to issue a long statement to clarify the matter. Riot says: “The incident escalated quickly. We need to clarify that Vanguard does not damage hardware or Ban’s player equipment. The photographs show equipment specifically designed to cheat on the Dauntless Pact, not ordinary computer or hardware equipment.”

Riot stated that, following the upgrade, Vanguard would render the fraudulent equipment ineffective, but would in no way cause damage to the computer. Vanguard will access the input-output memory management module (IOMMU) security of player devices to detect and prevent access to downstream applications by equipment such as DMA cards. When the IOMMU protection is disabled, the equipment can be restored to work.
Riot emphasizes: “As the Dauntless Pact and other Riot games require IOMMU, players are not able to use such devices in games, but their computers do not `change bricks’. We can’t, and can’t, influence players’ equipment in any way. This feature only applies to systems that attempt to use DMA cheating devices and does not affect players who do not use DMA solids.”

Despite the clarifications provided by Riot on this matter, there are players who believe that the Vanguard protection measures have crossed some boundaries and should not interfere with the purchase of hardware equipment by the player. However, there are also players who believe that Riot ‘ s initiative is reasonable, as DMA hardware clearly violates the service terms of the Dauntless Compact. In addition, concerns were expressed about possible misstatement of anti-fraud systems.
