According to The Game Post, the latest court documents show that, following Sony ‘ s refusal to consult on the Horizon cooperation proposal, the call turned to the development of the Game of the Last Liver. Sony ‘ s prosecution of the proceedings for the discovery of the origin of the wilderness revealed a detailed process of contact prior to the breakdown of cooperation between the parties.

In the objection submitted earlier, Sony not only refuted the attempt to have the case dropped, but referred directly to his claim that it was “purely unfounded”, but also accused him of evading responsibility through the “brand-to-entity shell game”. As evidence, Sony attached a statement by Olivier Kurtmansch, the head of the PlayStation Studios mobile operations, which revealed for the first time behind-the-scenes contacts before the deterioration of the relationship between the two companies. According to the statement, the team of Olivier Kurtmansch travelled to Shenzhen to discuss cooperation with Tseing and the Arctic Light studio under his banner. As early as March 2024, during the Games Developer’s Congress, the subject of the Horizon project, code-named “Plan Z”, was presented at the San Francisco Conference, and a video of vague concepts was broadcast, but Sony expressly refused to authorize the IP on 8 April by e-mail.

In its reply, dated 16 May, the UNIS insisted that it was only interested in the Horizon, stressing that “the Arctic Light Studio team was confident in the IP adaptation, not only because of its enthusiasm, but also because of the skill matching built up by Plan Z”. However, during the Shenzhen meeting in July, the scene turned around – While the Sony side thought it would discuss the collaboration of the Last Survivors, the Northern Light Studio once again presented the Horizon style similar to the concept of Plan Z. In his statement, Olivier Kurtmansh recalled: “The representation of female roles in slides, which are designed to be like the mix of ” Horizon ” , tribal clothing and metal armor, as well as a physical mixture of mechanical beasts. Now, looking back at the promotional material for The Origin of the Desert, I am sure that it is from that game. This is confusing in view of the fact that we have refused to cooperate with the Horizon and that the purpose of the trip was to include the last survivors.”

This interesting detail shows that there was a brief window of cooperation between the Quest and Sony and that the potential project was not Horizon, but Last Liver. However, the failure to build bridges at this meeting only exacerbated Sony ‘ s dissatisfaction. The case is still pending and the Court will hear the arguments of the parties in November.
